We all know by now how 2020 played out for the world and a large part of it wasn’t great. No one can contest what a challenging year it was for all of us. In the wake of me loosing my job back in March I decided to do my part to help turn things around. I decided I would start selling coffee and I would donate a portion of my sales to MuisiCares and MVAN (Music Venue Alliance of Nashville). Being a person that worked in the Live Events Industry for over 8 years, I’ve seen first hand how detrimental the pandemic has been to the workers that are all responsible for executing the many concerts, plays, and events you all so dearly miss now. An estimated 10 million touring personnel have been without income for 11 months at this point and with the vaccine finally being disturbed we are all hopeful to be able to return to work some time later this year. In the mean time I’m doing my best to help them fill the gap in income.
Thanks to all of you Call Time Coffee has been able to raise over $350 in donations to MusiCares! MusiCares provides a safety net for Music professionals in times of need. They help cover rent, pending medical bills, addiction recovery, and beyond. While I have goals to raise WAY more than that in the future, I’m proud of the work you’ve help me do so far. I actually have a close friend that MusiCares helped cover some dental bills during all of this. Call Time was also able to participate in SoundCheck’s annual Toy-Drive this year where we donated coffee to those who were donating toys. All in all, the toy drive raised $22,000 in toys and donations. We were so honored to able to be a part of that! It was amazing seeing roadies come together and still pour into the community of Nashville even after we ourselves have been through so much! Despite the typical typecast that often get affiliated with roadies, we really are the most resilient and servant hearted people you’ll ever meet.
When I started dreaming of owning a coffee shop 3 years ago, I never once envisioned that this is how it would launch. Despite that though, I’m really happy for the community I’ve been able to build with it. You all show up week in and week out and I keep getting chances to tell my story and the story of so many people out of work. There is nothing we really find more joy in than the moment the pre-roll music is on, the lights go down, and the crowd roars and I have loved telling those behind the scene stories to you all. We all thank you for your donations this past year to help us get to the finish line. Finally, I’d like to say thanks to you directly. Without you all I wouldn’t be able to do this every week. I say it on social media all the time but I’ll say it again; you all mean the world to me and thank you for showing up every week!
